Indochina, the 1950s. Elizabeth Cole, a war correspondent for *Life* magazine, achieves the impossible: she makes contact with the “Opium Queen,” the mysterious Shan princess Olive Yang, who agrees to reveal some of her secrets to her. But the shipment of a massive cargo of drugs to Bangkok will throw their plans into disarray and sweep the princess and the photographer into a whirlwind of adventures in the heart of the Golden Triangle. Facing danger as they travel through Burma, Thailand, and China, the two women will form a unique bond that will change their destinies.
